Tell us about your books! What do you love to write about?
I have written both children's picture books and non-fiction books that are geared toward working moms and small businesswomen. I am very proud of the children's books I've co-authored, but to help others discover "life beyond the cubicle" with nonfiction/self-help-type books is very rewarding.
What inspired you to get started as an author?
I started my self-employment journey in 2011 as a virtual assistant and my very first client was a children's book publisher. Over the years my main core client seemed to always be other authors and I loved the challenge of marketing and helping them create their books. There's an old adage that goes, "the shoemaker's kids have no shoes" and that was exactly the case with me! I was so busy helping other people with their books that I simply didn't have the brainspace to create my own. But that finally changed around 2018 when I made publishing my own work a priority. By 2020, I had self-published three non-fiction business titles and two children's books through a traditional publisher (both were co-written with another author). Now I am proud to share that my writing business has evolved even more and my greatest joy is helping other emerging authors tell their stories as a ghostwriter/book coach.
What are your favorite books to read?
I tend to read books that will improve my brain! Uplifting books about life, spirituality, and overcoming challenges are my favs. I just finished Loved Just As I Am by Melissa McDaniel and that book is a winner!
For shoppers holiday shopping for their loved ones, tell us who is your book(s) for?
My non-fiction books are for anyone looking to create a side-hustle business from home or experience the flexibility and freedom of being a freelancer. Being self-employed is not all butterflies and rainbows, but I can't imagine living and working any other way.
What’s the message you want to get out to people this Holiday Season?
Books are the gift that can be opened again and again! And there are no calories or sizing requirements!
