Tell us about your books! What do you love to write about?
I love writing about nature, whether it’s land, sea, sky, or human nature. Nature’s Quiet Wisdom, is my first book of poetry that explores the beautiful, peaceful world of the endless ebb and flow of the ocean, the quiet of a forest, the shapeshifting of the clouds, and the amazing natural world of an urban backyard. My second book, Abundant Strength: A Caregiver’s Prayers, is a collection of prayerful poems for sons and daughters caring for their aging parents. When I was caring for my own parents, I felt alone and overwhelmed, so I wrote these prayers to comfort myself and other caregivers.

What inspired you to get started as an author?

Writing was a large part of my professional life, but I had never written just for fun. I tried many outlets for my creativity before I found an online writing class where everything just clicked for me. The approach in that class felt “organic”, natural, and because of that, the writing flowed for me and went in surprising directions. I never intended to write a book, but after a few years, I had a body of work I wanted to share with others.

What are your favorite books to read?I enjoy reading novels, historical fiction, biographies and memoirs. Mary Oliver and C.S. Lewis are two of my favorite writers. I just finished This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

For shoppers holiday shopping for their loved ones, tell us who are your book(s) for?

My books are for anyone seeking peace, comfort, and a break from their hectic lives. My poems and prayers are short meditations, so anyone can pick up the books, open to any page and relax for a few minutes.

What’s the message you want to get out to people this Holiday Season?

"Peace on Earth” is a phrase we see and hear often during the holiday season. We all need peace, and I believe that it begins in each person’s heart. I hope my books help people find and nurture peace within themselves.
