First, A Little Bit About E.D.

E.D. Hackett is a speech-pathologist by day and a writer by night. She writes women’s fiction novels with one foot in romance. Common themes include self-acceptance, self-love, family dynamics, and friendship. She loves anything Ireland, ice cream over cake, books over movies, and walking the neighborhood looking for hearts in nature. She lives in Central Massachusetts with her husband, who is her number one fan, and her two kids...three if you count the giant fur-baby.

An Interview With E.D.

What can readers who discover your work this Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend expect to experience? Is there a particular message or feeling you hope to convey through your stories during this time?

Writing has always been an escape for me. Ever since I was a kid, I would write when life became too hard. As a novelist, I wanted to create stories that dealt with common difficulties women faced during various stages of life to show that we are not alone. My books always have a happy ending, because life is hard enough. My goal is for my books to leave you feeling warm and connected, as if the characters are your friends and the themes are universally relatable.

Could you give us a sneak peek into your current or upcoming projects? What exciting new worlds, characters, or adventures can your readers look forward to in the near future?

My next novel to be published is a mother-daughter holiday story called A Trip Down Memory Lane. It is in the early editing stages and won’t make its way into the world until next fall. I am also currently writing two novels: Jackie’s story (yet to be named) from the Block Island Saga and an unnamed realistic fantasy novel about three generations of women within one family. I hope to have them released within the next one-two years.

During the hustle and bustle of the holiday shopping season, many turn to books for relaxation and escape. What are your personal favorite reads around this time of year, or do you have any go-to book recommendations for our readers?

I love reading books that I can start and finish in 1-2 days. I lean towards shorter books with strong characterization. My top three authors include the following: Jane Porter, Fredrik Backman, and Jonathon Tropper. For lighter reads, I enjoy Katharine Hastings, Shari Low and Sophie Kinsella.

As we dive into the holiday season, can you share how this festive time influences your writing or your stories? Do any of your characters or plots draw inspiration from the holiday spirit?

Holiday traditions seem to be a large part of my stories. Both A Match Made in Ireland and Reinventing Amara Leventis are set between September and January, and holiday traditions from the Irish and Greek cultures play a major role in these two stories.

Are there any special offers, promotions, or unique aspects of your work that you are particularly excited about sharing with readers this Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

This is my first time advertising my store. I always say my favorite book I’ve written is the book I’m currently writing, and similar to that effect, I can’t just pick one special offer. All e-books are on sale and every item is 10% off, so whatever you choose, you get a great deal.

If you like light, warm and fuzzy reads, you’ll love A Match Made in Ireland. If you like heavier topics, you’ll love The Havoc in My Head or Hope Hanna Murphy. If you’re into closed-door romance and later in life love, you’ll love Farm Cove Bliss. If you’re into coming-of-age stories amongst twenty-year olds, you’ll love Reinventing Amara Leventis. If you like two hour reads, you'll love An Unfinished Story. There is a story for everyone. No matter what stage of life you’re in, my characters will transport you to a time in your life that you may or may not have experienced yet.
